As a result of a collaborative research programme a software program called asPECT has been developed and maintained by TRL.

asPECT is the output that has been produced as a result of the 2008-11 Collaborative Research Programme. Collaborative research is a joint initiative of the Highways Agency, Mineral Products Association, Refined Bitumen Association and TRL Limited. The project was further endorsed by the Waste & Resources Action Programme and Adept.

asPECT provides a methodology to calculate the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions or ‘carbon footprint’ of asphalt used in highways.

The website which is hosted and maintained by TRL can be found at www.sustainabilityofhighways.org.uk where further details of the software and programme can be found.

The website and product are hosted at TRL on behalf of our client.  Please contact us if you would like to know more about our website, product development and hosting capabilities.
