TRANSYT 13: Yes – All releases since 13.1.1 indicate the presence and number of flares in NetCon (The network diagram). Additionally, you can use the NetCon user options to set one of the link text values to the Flare Storage value, allowing you to see the length of the flare. A non-zero value also indicates the actual presence of a flare.
TRANSYT 16, 15, and 14: Note that these versions of TRANSYT have two methods for modelling flares: “Quick flares” (which are the same as for TRANSYT 13 and earlier versions) and CTM/CPDM flares, which allow more complex situations to be modelled such as where each lane of the flare is controlled by different phasing. Quick flares show up in the same way as in TRANSYT 13’s network diagram. CRM/CPDM flares are evident from the presence of a traffic stream feeding more than one downstream traffic stream AND the fact that these downstream traffic streams have their the traffic model “Flare” – A network overlay will can be used to reveal this on the network diagram. Depending in the circumstances, TRANSYT makes use of either the CTM or CPDM underlying traffic model.
